Hello,
I’m an international student from Africa who had to apply for a school last minute so I can still go somewhere this fall and waiting another year to go to college is not an option for me.
I got accepted to a college and I recieved financial aid, but I still need to pay $25000 to attend, that I can’t afford at all. So, does anyone please know of any scholarship or school that I can apply for now that can help cover all the costs?
I have a highschool gpa of 4.0 on a 4.0 scale and a 1210 SAT score.
Thanks for the help!
Thank you!!!
There are many pages (Prepscholar and CollegeBoard have the best info on this) that contain information regarding the many colleges that still have their applications open, in terms of financial aid, it is quite late to look for a college that will provide you with 100% of financial aid as an international student, however, I’ll see what I can find and send it to you, as of now, look up St. Francis College, Georgetown College, and Lake Forest, they have some decent financial Aid, here is the link for the colleges still receiving applications (scroll down to July).
Hope you find a good college.
Thank you for the help! You said there was a link, but I don’t see one in your comment though
It didn’t allow me to send it, but it was the PrepScholar Blog, look up for “universities with late admissions” or universities still accepting applications and it is most probably going to pop up as one of the first few pages. Have you found anything useful for your case yet?
As an international candidate, it would be very difficult to find an accredited school, with an admission, and with 100% financial aid. You are going to have to do a google search.

Also, housing is not guaranteed and most housing reservations are typically gone. You need to pay up to $5000 for US health insurance that is not covered by university scholarships. Why can’t you wait? If you are so desperate to go to a US college next month, you may end up getting into a bad situation.
Thanks for the help I can’t afford to wait because I already took one year off, my parent won’t let me take another year off, it would be too much.
Just curious, what stops you from going to a college in your country? are you not able to afford it?
Well, the colleges in my country aren’t really good and even I do study here, finding a good job would be pretty difficult, not to mention the extra expenses…
Hi, so I looked at all the colleges you recommended, but none of them can help me really… Thanks anyways
Studying in the US doesn’t mean you can stay and work here. The assumption is students will return to their home countries. It is very difficult to get a permanent work visa.
How difficult will finding a job be when you return home after spending 4 years in the US? Are employers in your country familiar with the names of US colleges?
I don’t think it’s possible to find $100k in scholarships (a renewable $25k/year grant) in the next few weeks. Can your parents pay anything at all?
You seem to be stuck.
- You were accepted to a school, but you can’t afford to pay the fees to go there.
- You need to find another US school, with 100% aid, but can’t find one.
- Your test scores are not high enough to garner merit aid.
- Your parents have placed a time limitation, on going to school, outside of your country.
- You don’t expect to return to your country for future job opportunities and expect the US to provide everything for your future.
