scholarships for students from middle class families/ not need based

Does anyone know of any good scholarships that are still open but not need based? My family is middle-class but I probably wouldn't qualify for need based scholarships.

there are tons… but what are your stats and intended major/interests? check out fastweb.com or ■■■■■■■■■■ or other scholarship websites.

Are you looking for scholarships to help pay for all four years or just frosh year? Private scholarships (especially those whose deadlines haven’t passed are typically just for freshmen and not for much).

If you’re looking for scholarships to help you pay for all four years, there aren’t many colleges that don’t have deadlines that have passed.

What are your stats? If you need money for college, then you might have to take a gap year (no college classes at all) and reapply.

You should check the colleges to which you have applied. SOME (not all…SOME) have scholarships that are awarded on the strenght of your application to the school. The amounts vary by school…if the school even has such awards.

Both of our kids received scholarships of this type from schools to which they applied…they were very surprised!

I have already received merit scholarships from some schools but may not necessarily be attending those schools. Paying for college is not an issue but I want to lessen the economic burden on my parents. I will most likely be majoring in biology but that’s still not for certain yet. I’m just looking for some private scholarships that can help with paying.

The scholarships you receive from the colleges themselves typically are for all four years…usually kept by maintaining a minimum GPA. Outside scholarships are most often one time awards, less money, and are not renewable.

The best way to ease the financial burden is by using merit offers from the schools themselves.

It sounds like the schools that gave you merit awards are not schools you are considering attending.

As noted above, check fast web…but also check your school guidance office. They either will have info about local scholarships in your area or will be able to tell you where to get this information.
