School like ND

I'm enjoying this discussion about Dayton because I've lived half an hour away all my life. Previous posters are right, it's hardly a hot spot, but I think it has a bit of an undeserved bad reputation. I don't know if this is of interest to the OP, but the arts scene in Dayton is incredible. There's a gorgeous new performing arts center that brings in national productions, and there are plenty of local groups that provide tons of performance opportunities.

UD is a great school with a strong reputation around here. The campus is very nice as well.

I agree with all of the people who are endorsing Dayton. I think it's a great school and I will probably go there if I don't get into ND or the Naval Academy.

I would like to comment on some of the other suggestions. I personally am not a very big fan of the Jesuits (Georgetown, HC). I'm not trying to make a stereotype, but whenever I work with a Jesuit school, all they care about is money. They don't really care about the poor as much other orders, such as the Holy Cross, Marianist, etc... Maybe that is why they are known for their education.
