anyone who got accepted feel like sharing some stats?

stats sharing will be pointless. Unless, of course, you share portfolios.

1) your portfolio is crucial
2) show dedication and passion to the field
3) do well in school
4) be unique

the beauty of architecture school, or any other college in general at cornell is that everyone has different stats (interests, strengths, backgrounds)...thus adding to our think tank a diversity of ideas

cornell just beated harvard in hockey..that is all that matters right now..hahahah

so is the portfolio the most important thing as in it can make up for mediocre grades? i mean i go to a private school in all honors and have like a B+ uw average, but this is my portfolio: http://www.flickr.com/photos/54905580@N00/

will my average hurt me THAT much? im a junior, but i mean, do they still want straight A's for architecture? thanks

the strongest applicants are those with an exceptional portfolio and good academic grades and have other strengths as well. but certainly a convincing portfolio will get you in despite mediocre grades..and there are certainly students in my class who are very talented but don't have the best academic grades. with 11% admission rate for architecture last year, it's really hard to say what kind of student will get in. in architecture school, you have to be constantly creative but you also need to be good in other areas as well, since architecture involves many other fields. you have interesting work in your portfolio. you could try diversifying a little bit though...don't limit yourself to just one medium (although there is no criterion as to what should be put in to your portfolio). you should design a portfolio that best demonstrates your creativity and critical thinking.

anyone apply ED to architecture?

11% aye, out of how many applications?

i don't have an exact count. but if there are only 55 students in the freshman class, then, around 550-600 students applied.

do you think the addition of the NYC campus will raise admission numbers.

no, the NYC campus is only to give students another option to studying abroad in Rome

the freshman class size will probably decrease even more as cornell is beginning to accept more students into its new graduate program..this year, the freshman class has 10 less students than the sophomore class.

^^oh. fun.
