Not enough boarders to give information on SCU Engineering! As for me, I was a little concerned that SCU average SAT score is 1210, which is on the lower side.

However, I could locate the Engineering school scores on exclusive basis. These are much better.

Middle 50% are- Math-620-700 and English-560-650. These are somewhat comparable to other respected schools, although one can say SAT is not everything.

Could somebody throw more light on SCU advantages of Silicon Valley location for Engineering?- reputation, internship ops, class sizes, placements, Graduate admissions etc

The classes for core requirements- what are the class sizes? Are these classes taken with students of other majors?

One gets a feeling that too many students are cramped up in 100 acres of campus-more than 8000 including graduates-so, is it that you get state school atmosphere?

the campus.. is HUGE, you won't feel cramped at all, esp with all the great facilities. they recently just spent 95 million dollars on the new library and more on the new aquatic and business school that will be ready when class of 2012 gets there next year. SAT is definetly not everything, if you do research scu engineering is pretty good top 30 or top 20 in nation, i'm in business so i dont really know for sure. There is def advantages to being in the silicon valley, the professors have tons of connections for internships and jobs. Class sizes are small, when i was visiting, professors told me that tehy try to keep a 35 person MAX on classes, average is around 20-25 if not less. SCU graduate school is GREAT, it is one of the best on the west coast. A lot of my friends parents graduated from SCU engineering and now they are succesful at huge companies around here earning 200K+ a year.

DD is an engineering major. Yes, her core classes are with students from many other disciplines. Class sizes are not high (I think DD said her largest class had 30 students) and the professors are very accessible. The 8000+ students are not all undergrads. There are only 4500 or so undergrads and many upperclassmen live in off campus dwellings abutting the school. Grad students live off campus as well. The engineering department is highly regarded in CA. You will never get that "state school" atmosphere...the school simply isn't that large. SCU has the "feel" of an LAC while being a masters university.
