Columbia probably outnumbers other schools based on the number of haters on cc who love to assume/whine about how Columbia lacks school spirit and a sense of community.

As a current Columbia student I would just like to put it out there that I had one of the most incredible weekends of my life (no exaggeration there) this weekend and its not over yet. I absolutely loved this year's production of the Varsity Show a Columbia tradition that has now been running for 117 years. This morning I celebrated Holi on Pupin Plaza (the Indian festival of colors) and being an intl student from Mumbai, had an absolutely incredible time. What was particularly really nice to see was the amount of diversity present to celebrate the festival.! I had earlier assumed that it would just be most of the Indian kids on campus celebrating the festival..but honestly..it felt like it was all of Columbia cramped up and drenched in color on that plaza.
Ofcourse the highlight of my weekend so far was Bacchanal. Snoooop dogg was incredible (it was also amazing to see him in a Columbia jersey :D ), the campus security wasnt so strict and everyone was having a blast drinking on the lawns for an amazing concert. It was a beautiful day and nearly all of Columbia was stretched out from South Lawn all the way till Low steps.

Ive said this before, and I only feel the need to say it again because of how hard posters like truazn and a few others try to portray Columbia as a terribly depressing, anti-social place with a lack of community. - I love Columbia and I couldnt have asked for a more phenomenal first year of college.

and for those who insist we need more school spirit. heres an interesting article:
