School suggestions for a Religious Studies major?

I'll be transferring from a community college, and I'm not sure where my GPA will be when I transfer, but probably pretty average-ish (3.0 to 3.5). I still need to to take the SAT. I've still got two semesters left until I transfer.

I'd rather look at schools that aren't terribly selective. As I plan to go on to a seminary, I'm hoping for a decent religious studies or theology program to act as a foundation. I'm not entirely sure what to expect, but I want a school that takes on difficult questions, encourages students to grow not only in their faith but in their knowledge of "secular" fields as well (sciences, for example), and it'd be great if Biblical languages were a part of the major. I prefer small schools, and as I live in suburbia now, it'd be great to be near a real city. Don't really care what state it's in.

I don't care if the school is Christian or secular. Mandatory chapel makes me cringe a bit, but if it's not daily, I don't mind (although I'd much rather check out local churches). If it's Christian, I'd like to not be the only liberal person there. It'd be cool if homosexuality was tolerated on campus, if the students & staff tend to opt for grace as opposed to judgment.

tl, dr;
seminary bound 3.0-3.5 student seeking religious studies or theology program, preferably at a small school near a city. tolerant and/or liberal student body and staff preferred.

St. Olaf, though it is probably a reach with that GPA. It fits the small school, liberal student body, lutheran (christian) school with strong academics.

If i’m able to do well during the remainder of my time at the jc, I’ll definitely look into st. olaf. I’ve heard great things.

Still, I don’t want to get set on a for-sure reach. I’d love to find some schools that are a bit easier to get in to.
