Schools for Chemistry

I’d say that Mudd and Caltech should definitely be added to his/her reaches

My son may be leaning to chemistry too so we have a few links.

Here is a helpful link to chemistry schools:

[NRC Rankings in Chemistry](NRC Rankings in Chemistry)

And here is a link to the University of Alabama Chemistry Department, which one fellow CC dad talks enthusiastically of. Sounds interesting. It is research oriented/funded:

[UAB Department of Chemistry](http://main.uab.edu/chemistry/show.asp?durki=69925)

Good luck.

^ Perhaps you wanted to link to [UAB Department of Chemistry](http://main.uab.edu/chemistry/show.asp?durki=75527&site=3429&return=69932) ?

^ Thanks for that. Yes, that is an excellent link!

I think I’m pretty self motivated, depends on how much I want something.

Harvey Mudd surely sounds great, but wish me luck on getting in! (and im a she!)

That chemistry scholar program looks pretty good, I like the scholarship part  But is it really worth it? (I don’t think UAB is seen as that great of a school? Correct me if I’m wrong) Seems like all thats special is TA during undergrad years, perhaps easier chance of getting research, and interacting more with professors. Wouldnt the latter two be easily done by ones self? And I dove a bit more in the site, and found a program for bs/md. That looks pretty good too.

Oh and are there similar programs to the Chemistry Scholars at UAB, but at other schools?

^ Most schools have undergrad research or honors programs.

But this chem scholars seems to offer a bit more than just research/honors work
