schools good in engineering & are <10-15k students & have a wide arrray of offerings?

I like how everyone ignored GlobalTraveler lol?

i saw his or her post and was going to comment. Yeah, something to that. I am voicing my son’s concerns (they are not major; but at this point I wanted to provide him some choices to more fully vett).

my older daughter is at a small LAC, and she has had some trouble shaking an ex-BF who apparently no likee the ex part. there just aint no place to hide at the LAC. But we love 'em (the LACs, anywho) - ya can have tea with the prof.

hey, since I am more used to the LAC experience - tell me, engineering people, DO ENG profs sup with their UG students ever? Or are they 17 lectures, a midterm, a final and outta here?

and if they don’t sup with the UG students, do they at least suffer them during office hours happily?

Many moons ago, when I attended Lafayette College (~2400 undergrads only, about 25%engineering majors), my Civil Engineering Department Head hosted a holiday party in December in which all of the CE majors were invited. Very accessible profs, during office hours and other times. Also used to regularly see them at sporting events.

Lafayette offers 47 majors across four areas of study (humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and engineering): [Departments and Programs Academics Lafayette College](http://www.lafayette.edu/academics/departments-and-programs/)

Four ABET accredited major are offered in engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical): [Division of Engineering: Home](http://engineering.lafayette.edu/)

I like Lafayyette. Lafayette. Wow fours years of spelling THAT :)

Seriously, looks real good. I guess it does not have ABET in computer engineering?

a buck and a half to NYC - cool!

THANKS

any more?

colorado school of mines

28 s/b in the mid 50 range. I would say preferably on the low end. His regular academics (8/340 in decent HS, 10 APs, 4.8 wtd) will more than make up for the low end in most schools.

what else can he go into if he decides that STEM education is not what he wants?

It looks like not much

but thanks anyway. it certainly meets the ACT criterion, is not hot and humid , certainly has a good ENG program and is smaller.

Actually, electrical is really “electrical and computer engineering” and it is ABET accredited: [Electrical and Computer Engineering: Home](http://ece.lafayette.edu/)

About 2200 undergrads, small classes, No Greek Life, Div III Athletics, great academics,

I think U of Rochester would be a great choice.

You can major in accounting or economics (or English or Anthropology) at Michigan Tech, so if you go there and decide not to stick with engineering, you have other options. (I like the Houghton/Hancock area.)
