Y'all please tell me if this makes any sense. My son likes a certain private school in the Midwest, and it is one of his final two. He's a NMF. This school gives a decent NMF scholarship of $2,000 per year. It is competitive and only awarded to a handful of students every year.

HOWEVER.... It is not awarded until July, well after the student has enrolled and all deposits have been paid. So the student cannot factor this scholarship into his decision as to whether to attend this school. He still has to list the school as his number one choice. But in doing so, he is doing so only on the basis of a "hope" while shutting out other schools that can offer money up front.

Are there any other schools that do this? Does it make any sense?
