Schools that don't require counselor recs?

<p>What Tier 1 schools (HYPMS, CIT, JHU, WUSTL etc...) don't require counselor recs?
My school allows for only 6 applications to private schools... they'd rather have everyone go to UCB. we have one counselor per 500 students. Where can i apply on my own (without school approval)?</p>

<p>If you use the commonapp, you’ll see that you don’t need to fill out a separate counselor rec every time you send in an application.</p>

<p>I think out of all the schools you just listed, only MIT doesn’t use the commonapp</p>

<p>Petition for more applications, or, barring that, write to the school board and the local newspaper/TV news. My school has a similar ratio, and we’re not restricted at all, and if your school is trying to funnel people to a specific college, then they should have that unethical practice brought to the attention of the media.</p>

<p>Also, 6 applications should be plenty, I only applied to 4 schools, 2 of which didn’t need counselor recs.</p>
