Schools that offer good aid with EFC of 3500

Current junior son, GPA 96 unweighted. dual enrolled with 3.6 college GPA, SAT of 1280 on first attempt, great LOC, FGLI, Common App fee waiver, intended major clinical lab sciences or medical lab technology, preferable schools in Northeast to Mid Atlantic…anybody have any good school suggestions? This is new to us!

Look at your local options, look at the state U that will reward his credits earned. Look at commutable options. What is your home state? What is his school GPA? Will he work to improve his test scores? Are you expecting to get financial aid to fully cover residential college?

With a low EFC you might want to look at colleges that meet need.

Of course since those schools do meet need they are highly competitive for admission which means your child will need excellent grades and standardized test scores. If that’s the case then you can also look for good merit aid options.

Can’t say which colleges will help with your EFC.
Check net price calculator for private colleges that use CSS PROFILE to determine financial need.
Have you any options for free community college and transfer? See program at West Virginia University for example.

What can your family afford to pay each year? Even with a low EFC, unless you have really good stats you’re probably still looking at an outlay a lot more than your EFC for residential college.

Are you pell eligible?

With an EFC of 3500 the OP would be eligible for partial Pell.

Try the net price calculator at each college’s web site to see what its financial aid may look like.

If parents are divorced, see http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/2083835-faq-divorced-parents-financial-aid-and-net-price-calculators.html .

Yes he will be Pell eligible. I think we will probably stay in state in New YOrk because we have the Excelsior scholarship which is hard to beat.
