Schools with good writing programs and good merit aid

This is my first time to post though I have been stalking the forums for a couple of months now :). Triplets who will be college bound 2013.
All my children have good GPAs and test scores (I'm lucky). While all three were national merit commended students, only one will more than likely move on to national merit semi finalist status etc.
Ultimately, she wants to write and publish. With a little bit of pressure from parents who would like her to have a marketable degree while she writes her first novel, she is now considering schools that offer both technical/professional writing programs as well as creative writing and is excited about this possibility. Anyone have suggestions or experiences with colleges on the NMF/NMSF list of colleges that offer merit aid or other schools that offer good merit aid that you know have strong english/writing programs?
Thanks for any input.

No idea, but I’ll bump this

I would suggest looking at the literary magazines at the colleges (Do they have one? How often published? Is it any good?)

From the NMF list, I would look at Baylor, Central Florida, Florida Gulf Coast, South Florida, and Northeastern.

Some other schools that fit the bill and might give good merit aid: Eckerd College, Agnes Scott, Susquehanna, and Long Island-CW Post.

I am sure there are many others.

Oklahoma Christian University - I’m looking into this one for art, but I see that it also offers an English/Writing program. Don’t know how good it is but has a full ride scholarship for National Merit Finalists.

Baylor in Texas also has a full tuition (I think) scholarship for National Merit Finalists. OU is well-known for its NMF scholarships, but it may not fully cover the cost if you are OOS.

University of Missouri could be a good choice.

USC gives half off tuition for NMF
Texas A&M gives good aid for NMF
