Schools with majors similar to Penn's DMD track

Hello, my sister is in the middle of her college search and is curious to find schools that have majors that are similar to Penn's Digital Media and Design major. (For reference: CG@Penn | DMD Program). The major essentially combines elements from computer science, fine arts and design, and mathematics to create a program that adds numerous artistic elements on top of a standard computer science degree.

I was wondering if any other schools had a major similar to this (not looking for graphic design, but something that integrates graphic design and CS). Thanks in advance.

At first I thought you were asking about Penn’s dental school!

Check out Carnegie Mellon, where they have a lot of interesting integrated programs.

[Undergraduate Program | Carnegie Mellon School of Design](http://design.cmu.edu/programs/undergrad)

Yes everyone thinks that when I mention DMD :).

Unfortunately CMU is a bit of a reach for her, are there any less selective schools with a similar program?

That’s a really unique program from what I gather because of its basis in engineering. The University of the Arts (in Center City Philadelphia) has some neat programs, including this one: [Web Development & Interaction Design | The University of the Arts](http://www.uarts.edu/academics/design/web-development-interaction-design)

Not sure if you’re PA residents, but Penn State has some cool programs too:

I’ll give it some more thought, but since you’re a Penn student yourself, you might want to contact the head of their department for advice. I would imagine they know of other good programs.

You might also want to try reposting your question but spell out the full name of the major to see if you get a better response. I can’t imagine there aren’t similar programs out there even though they might have different names. Sounds like an awesome program.
