Schreyer Honors Program or Rutgers?

My son graduated from Schreyers last year. The accomplishments of his peers were absolutely amazing. Whenever he ran into red tape it was immediately smoothed over by the Honors college. He was able to get all and any course work he wanted, worked in awesome research labs with cutting edge stuff and was able to get into some great and high rankng grad programs. Kids leave schreyers and head to Harvard on down the ranking list in med, law, bio etc.

Sometimes you will be awarded money from your college in addition to SHC money. Son ended up with a Braddock award (tuition, room, board, research etc). So don’t be inclined to say no to Schreyers until all the facts are in.

Apply and cross your fingers. Good luck!

and don’t forget the football…it is amazing

Sax, Never knew your son got the Braddock; congrats a few years late! Can I ask what he’s doing now?

Thank you so much for everyone’s input/experiences! They have really helped me in making my decision! After weighing the pros and cons, I think I’m going to apply to SHC. Thanks again!

Penn State Schreyer has recently been named the best public option in the Northeast. The honors college has been ranked 8th in a category called Overall Excellence, and this out of 50 major flagships rated. This is really good because Schreyer is also a fairly large program with 1800+ students. Average to get in is 2070/32/4.0. Publicuniversityhonors.com is the site that has this stuff.

Here’s [a comparison that was made not to long ago on College Confidential](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1041074-best-honor-programs-public-universities-updated-12.html).
