I have no particular interest over one or the other, and it is going to be in senior year (which, at my school, most people join senior year). If your school has a big reputation in one and not much in the other, which one would be more beneficial for colleges?

Personally, I think the effect would balance itself out. If Academic Decathlon, for example, is very high ranking in your school (nationals multiple times), it would be beneficial to join for its recognition, but then again, if for some reason, the year after it does badly, then it is not as beneficial. However, let's say the low ranking team is science bowl -- this would have little recognition, but it has potential for recognition.

Also, ACADEC has 9 members and no ranks. Science Bowl has 4-5 members and a captain. Yet ACADEC has a lot of awards given to the finalists. What do you guys think?

The best scenario is that you lead your AcDec team to achieve something that it has never achieved before. I wish I can tell you more, but I honestly have little idea what Academic Decathlon is or how it works :o.

hmm, i did acadeca during my four years in high school. my experiences are that acadeca can be really fun, but it depends on who youre working with and if you actually like what acadeca does. anyone who knows it can tell you that acadeca can get really intense with the exorbitant amount of info youre trying to take in, but really, if you dont enjoy it, its not worth it in the end of the day. and i think being able to enjoy it can reflect on ur college apps.

to the op: but at the same time, youll be a senior next year…
