This is just a general question for science, particularly life science majors, that are currently attending UCLA. I'll be a transfer student enrolling this Fall and I was just wondering how those who are science majors would compare the difficulty of their upper division classes compared to their lower division courses. As a life science major, I've heard that lower division is extremely competitive because everyone takes the same pre-requisite classes which group all of the pre-meds, engineers, and the rest of the science majors together. For those of you that are science majors, would you say that although the material of the upper division courses is generally more focused and thus more difficult to understand, is it generally LESS competitive in upper division life science courses and thus easier to succeed? Also if anyone's an MCDB major specifically, how were your upper division courses compared to lower division are there any easy courses out there? What are the most challenging upper division courses (I'm kind of worried about biochemsitry)?

Anyone have any insight? Is there anyone out there at least concerned about this as well?

Aside from the LS series, I found that both divisions to be pretty much equal in competition
