How's the science program at this school?

Hi, my son is a chem major at Tufts, just started his sophomore year. He is tremendously impressed with the chem and bio honors classes he's had so far and will be beginning chem research this year too. He's psyched!
The biology department homepage is http://ase.tufts.edu/biology/, the physics department's is http://ase.tufts.edu/physics/ and the chemistry department homepage: http://chem.tufts.edu/ Note all the undergrad research opportunities available. Also, there is a $4.6 million renovation of the Pearson Chemistry Building underway to refurbish their research & teaching facilities. The Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy is well known worldwide in nutrition science and nutrition policy. Tufts offers a competitive early medical school admissions program for Tufts, Brandeis and Boston College kids interested in going to Tufts med school and my son is hoping he'll be one of the few admitted. Here's the website on that program: http://www.tufts.edu/med/admissions/programs_ba_md.html
Hope this helps!

Of the Tufts students that apply to the Tufts Medical School early acceptance program, 70% that apply (3.5+ gpa required and have one year of biology and chemistry along with one semester of organic chemistry completed with orgo II concurently enrolled. Acceptance is conditional upon upholding grades and only taking the MCAT - no minimum score is required however) get interviews. From the interviewed students, 70% are accepted.

What's Tufts Med School's reputation in medicine?

Very reputable in academia. However it should be noted that there is no such thing as a "bad" medical school. All must pass a certain standard and to even gain admission to a lesser known medical school is a difficult process, even for the best applicants.
