Hi everyone. I'm in the process of deciding which colleges to apply to, and I became attracted to Columbia because of its location and atmosphere. (I haven't visited but I'm trusting the Fiske guide)

I know that many of Columbia's humanities/social science departments (such as economics, political sciences) are excellent. What about its science departments? Are they a lot weaker? The two majors I'm considering right now are biology and anthropology, but I'm also interested in areas such as neuroscience and psychology.

Threads like these irk me, although I know that you have good intentions.

A school of such high caliber like Columbia is not “weak” in any academic field. When you’re looking at schools such as Columbia, any notions like these should go out the window. You will be satisfied in any field of study at Columbia as long you do like the school itself (which you do).

yeah Columbia is a pretty well balanced schools, it attracts top talent in every broad discipline from science to math to languages to economics etc.
