What would be my chances for Sciences Po - Columbia Dual BA Program?

@DualBA18 hey do you mind chancing me for le harve?

no

Test Scores: while the scores you have are pretty good, the number of AP’s and SAT II’s taken seem to be on the low side.

Awards: It’s a positive sign that you have a nationally acknowledged award. But, similar to the test scores, may be on the low side in terms of quantity.

Extracurricular: Shows variety and breadth of experience.

Volunteer/Internship: Again, shows variety and breadth of experience.

Overall, I think you’re a strong candidate in terms of Extracurriculars and Volunteer/Internship experiences. I also wouldn’t worry too much about the quantity of awards as quality seems to be present. You may want to take a few more SAT II’s and maybe retake the ACT for a slightly higher score. But from my experience, I am currently a student in the Dual BA program, the most important aspect in the application is the essay. Make sure you clearly outline why you would be a great fit to the program apart from being a good student. In your essays, try to show them that you have something to offer to the program that no one else can.

Good luck!

Hi! Your ACT score is average, your GPA may be a little low (UW?) but your SATII scores seem solid. How rigorous were your academic courses, what’s your senior courseload?
Your awards seem solid too, great extracurriculars and volunteer/internship experiences.
Columbia is a highly selective school, so it’s all up for bat - make sure you kill it on your essays.
All that said, I think you have about a 40-60% chance of getting in. Anyways, good luck!!!

Chance me back??

@queen67 You have the profile, but they’re going to want to see that you are really interested in the program, in the region of focus that you choose, and in the social sciences. So give the essays your everything!

I applied last year and got to the interview stage but didn’t get in to the program. I had similar extra curriculars/volunteer/internship experience but as @FalafelHummus said I think it’s more important to show them how your personal experience will lead them to fit in to the program and help it grow (obviously it’s a relatively new program). The interview portion was kind of unexpected though, just a warning if you get there.

@ac2020 what was unexpected about the interview portion, if you don’t mind telling?

@queen67 You have to be quite knowledgeable about any conflicts (political, military, economic) or tensions in the region you are applying to (I applied to Menton). They will ask about your opinion as to how to solve them. Review your application and essays because they will ask you more in depth questions about them. Good luck! I remember interviews were in February last year

@queen67 Did you apply to the dual degree program? How did it go?
