would carleton satisfy the hunger of a biology researcher?

It looks like the science departments do a very good job of getting research information to the students.

also i have a friend who knows a bio major who transferred to U of MN from carleton b/c of the lack of science classes. what do you think about her action?

I have no idea about her particular circumstances, but you can easily find on the Carleton website what classes are offered.

Why don't you ask your friend about it?

The number of rising juniors declaring biology majors at Carleton ROSE last year to about 14% with the physical sciences also rising to about another 16%. These numbers are among the highest of any general college/university in the country.

The school also churns out more PhD’s in the sciences and math than almost any school nationally - percentage-wise higher than the entire Ivy League, significantly higher than any state university.

About 97% of freshmen return sophomore year - a rate of demonstrated satisfaction that is also one of the highest in the country (UMinnesota, by comparison, sits at about 86%).

Carleton certainly seems to be doing a lot of things very, very right. See the attached article from the Chronicle of Higher Education last year detailing some of their accomplishments in the sciences for women, in particular.

Thanks for the link, 1190. That's a very impressive article.
