Scratch, sniff, and apply! What will they think of next?

The vast majority of kids at our school are swayed by the give-away or personalized gimmicks (phone calls, etc). They like to feel wanted. They are not necessarily savvy enough to look deeper at a program to tell what is good or “in depth.”

A scratch and sniff? I find that one kind of doubtful, but who knows?

Whoever decided those postcards or basic letters telling a student to log on the website wasted a bit of money. Those end up trashed more quickly than anything. If sending things, one has to get the student’s attention - MAYBE scratch and sniff will work, but I’m doubtful.

Weird! I don’t know if that would be very convincing.

I’ve been getting tons of emails and even more letters and other random stuff in the mail and at this point, it’s more annoying than beneficial. Most of it goes in the garbage and the letters from the decent colleges are just accumulating in a pile. In my opinion though, you can tell a lot about a school from its “advertising”. If they’re that desperate for you, it means you can do better.

I think they would make no difference. Or perhaps the fake smells would make me sneeze.
