SDSU Admissions Class of 2026

Just to note my son applied on the application deadline date. His 4 friends/classmates applied around 6-8 weeks before him, all had heard back in February. One was offered honors program.

Hello. My daughter was just admitted for English major. We found out Friday. 3.86 UW, 4.42 W, IB student. A few APs scoring 4’s and 5’s. Did not take ACT or SAT since all schools interested in were blind.

Question: Is the in person Open House for admitted students on April 9th more comprehensive than the admitted students tour? Will she be able to see dorms at the Open House… it doesnt say.

Thanks!

Wonderful! My S got in for CS, but his first passion is all things audio recording and playing music (he’s a metal rock musician/fan) so I thought hey, if he ends up hating CS he should know this major exists! I sent him their website already but thanks for the stats/info! Best wishes to your son, the program sounds phenomenal!

The Open house should have tours of the dorms. You could call the housing office to confirm. Contact | SDSU

Either the Admitted Student Tour or the Open House will give your student a good overview of the SDSU campus and activities.

My son preferred the Admitted Student Tour since we contacted his major department and we were able to get a more personalized tour of the CS Building and Facilities. This was several years ago so not sure this is an option currently.

Ah… thanks for the quick reply. The Open House is on a Saturday and the admitted tours are week days… so much more convenient for Open House. I will call housing per your advice. Is it first come first serve on housing contracts, or do they just assign? I know HC gets Zura, but I want her to act quick if its an early bird type of thing.

This is from the Housing website:
Incoming first-year students who are required to live on campus must complete the steps below. Students who are not required to live on campus, but would like to, must also complete the steps below to apply for on-campus housing.

Stage I: March 1 - May 1

  1. Accept your Offer of Admission by submitting the Intent to Enroll non-refundable deposit.

  2. Activate your SDSUid. Your SDSUid credentials are required to access the Housing Portal.

  3. Log onto the Housing Portal with your SDSUid and apply for on-campus housing. Pay the non-refundable $375 initial payment fee.

  4. E-sign and submit your completed license agreement by the Intent to Enroll deadline of May 1. Please note that priority is not given based on the date of submission of the license agreement.**

Stage II: May 2 - May 15

  1. Log onto the Housing Portal and indicate your room type and learning community interests, select a meal plan, and search and confirm roommates (optional). This information will be used to assign your room and, if applicable, your roommate(s) and learning/thematic community. Please note that first-year students are not able to indicate building interests.
  2. Submit your room type and learning community interests, meal plan selection, and roommate(s) (optional) on the Housing Portal by May 15

My D is in HC and would be in Zura, do you think that is also a first come first serve issue? We haven’t fully made up our mind yet, but dont want to be left out when she does

My son received admission on Friday to Mechanical Engineering. ~3.8 UW, 4.16 CSU GPA. He had a 4 AP classes and a few honor classes, plus some leadership in extracurriculars. We are in state.

Asking for a friend who is too nervous to read all of this…. But has anyone heard on any decisions for nursing?

We have the same question. I tried to ask the housing people via chat during the virtual day on the 12th but it wasn’t clear re: WHC Zura room urgency.

Only One post of an acceptance for Nursing today. Very unusual that SDSU is dragging out the decisions. Usually there is a large wave including the Nursing admits. All i can say is hang in there (I know easy to say, hard to follow through).

My daughter just heard today- got into pre-nursing. Is that the same as Direct Entry?

My son has the same stats, but has not heard for Mech Engineering. Having faith!

Yes, most students are admitted in to a “pre-major” where they need to take specific pre-req courses and obtain a minimum GPA to continue as a full major.

freshmen are admitted directly into the BSN program and will complete prerequisite courses during the first year of study. Nursing major courses typically begin sophomore year.

Just got off the phone with housing and there is no first come first serve. They take into consideration how many per room you request, your study habits, other information before making a decision.
