I was told that if I passed a senior math class with a C or better I would get my requirement waived, but today they sent me this:

"You must fulfill the ELM requirement by May 3, 2014 or you will not be eligible to enroll in classes at SDSU. Refer to the checklists in your Steps to Enroll to determine whether you will need to take the ELM. DO NOT JEOPARDIZE YOUR ADMISSION STATUS by waiting for Advanced Placement scores or college course grades to come in to clear the requirements."

Will they revoke my acceptance if I don't take the test and just wait to pass the class? They also will not let me sign up for classes until the requirement is met - I'm worried classes will be packed if I sign up after my I graduate from high school.

Freshman sign-up for classes during orientation in July. I would call admissions to clarify that your math will meet the ELM requirement and get it in writing.
From the SDSU website: for waiving the ELM requirement Answering YES to one or more questions fulfills your ELM requirement. If you answer NO to ALL of the following, you must take the ELM.

Did you:
•Score 550 or higher on the mathematics section of the College Board SAT Reasoning test or SAT Subject Tests level I or II in mathematics?
•Score 23 or higher on the mathematics section of the ACT?
•Score 3 or higher on the Calculus AB or Calculus BC examination or on the statistics examination of the College Board Advanced Placement program?
•Pass, with a grade of C or higher, a transferable college math course that satisfies the General Education mathematics/quantitative reasoning requirement by the end of the spring 2014 term? (See an SDSU adviser if this applies to you.)
•Receive a result of “Ready for CSU College-Level Mathematics Courses” on the Early Assessment Program (EAP), augmented mathematics, taken in the 11th grade as part of the California Standards Test?

You are strongly encouraged to take the ELM even if you receive a result “Ready for CSU College-Level Mathematics Courses – Conditional” on the Early Assessment Program (EAP), augmented mathematics, taken in the 11th grade as part of the California Standards Test.

Are you taking Calculus AB?? If so, you may not want to wait for your AP Score in July and take the ELM just in case.

Yes I am taking the class but I was under the impression that simply passing the class (not necessarily the AP test) would exempt me from the requirement.

I called them and it turns out I’m all good :)
