Hello, I was accepted accepted into San Diego State University. I have recieved my financial aid award. Can u guys please tell me if my financial award is good and if ill be able to make it work? I come from a low-income family and I was accepted into EOP.
P.S I am also awaiting on private scholarships to help me with my costs.

SDSU 2012-2013 Financial aid award:
Pell Grant: 5000
Cal Grant B: 1551
State univeristy grant: 5970
Total aid: 12,521

Cost of Attendance (Tuition and Room/Board only): 20,138
Net Cost: $7617

I also recived work study funds, but that money is earned when completing ur ours.
Federal Work Study: 4000
I also recieved loans:
Subsidized loan: $3465
Unsubsidized: $1980

I also got parent plus loans but I rather not put my parents into debt.
P.S I was told to stay away from unsubsidized loans so I will if I can.
I also plan on getting a part-time job as well.

So is it worth it? I would really like to live in San Diego and SDSU is one of the best schools for my major Accounting. So in my later years, can I afford to live off campus in an apartment? Please give me feedback. Thanks :)

How will you be able to work another job on top of $4K in work study which is already a lot?

That’s a lot of Work-study! But that will cover day to day expenses and other costs. If you work the full $2k per semester, then don’t blow all the money. Use some of it to put towards the following semester’s cost or room and board.

How much can you earn over the summer? You probably can’t work more during the school year because of your W-S. But, you could earn a few thou over the summer!

If you have to do the unsub loans, do them. That’s better than having your parents take out Plus loans.

How much is room and board?

You got a pretty good pkg.

Hello thanks for the response.
I do plan on saving some of the work study funds for next semesters room and board.
I will try to work over the summer, but I might be taking part of the B.E.S.T Summer bridge program at SDSU for no cost in order to get a head start on my classes.
Yes, I would rather get unsubsidized than to put my parents in debt.
My room and board for the academic year is about 13k.
My only worry is that may not afford to live on campus the entire 4 years or off campus as well.
Will my financial aid decrease over the next few years or will it stay the same?
