Searching for Liberal Arts Colleges

Momrath, Thank you for a very thorough and helpful response.

I notice you mentioned Rhodes College. Have you visited it? If you haven’t, then perhaps I can help since I live a few miles away from it. Rhodes is an academically solid college. It has good connections to St. Jude, one of the best hospitals in the country, so students can intern there during the summer. The financial aid is fairly good, and the campus is beautiful. The surroundings (neighborhood around campus) is historic but not very scenic. Diversity is not very high, and its name has a snobbish/frat association within the city.

Other LAC colleges I would consider that are not on your list are Dartmouth, Bowdoin, Swarthmore, and Haverford (Swarthmore’s rivals).

look at William & Mary, Davidson, Wake Forest for good LAC with good weather as well. W&M also has a joint degree program with St Andrews.

Reed College for sure.

Thank, I will check them all out.

St. Lawrence University (NY)
Hobart & William Smith (NY)
Union College (NY)
