Hello, I’m currently a freshman at the university of Michigan. Through summer classes and then the fall semester, I currently have 16 credits. But this semester I got a C for my final grade in MATH 105 at umich, leaving my current gpa to be a 3.138. I also withdrew from a biology class because I realized it wasn’t working and would only hurt my gpa if I stayed in it- and I no longer wanted to explore the science topics after recieving compliments in more English/writing based courses. Michigan gives a free pass for withdraws in your first semester so it will only show up on unofficial transcripts.
Basically - my question is will this first semester significantly impact my chances of getting into a good law school? And even with a low cumulative GPA this semester - do I still have chances to raise it to a 3.7+? Thank you all in advance!
Law schools ONLY care about your cumulative GPA. I assume that you can do the math to see how many A’s you need to raise your GPA to a 3.7…
Protip: apply after graduation and you can include your senior spring semester which are, hopefully, all A’s.
