<p>I think you could only afford to slack off if you know for sure you will get into a school of choice in April (and if you are accepted to a school already). In today's environment, I don't anyone could be for sure. If you read some of last year's threads, you'll see many kids were pushing right up to the end. They had to send in additional information, latest transcripts, additional recommendations to get off some waitlist spots. If you had 4.0 through out high school, but got some Bs or Cs last semester of senior year, you are just not going to be as competitive as other kids (would you kick yourself for not be able to compete for one those 10-20 waitlist spots for your top school because you decided to take it easy?)</p>

The other issue is that some seniors use the newfound free time in ways that are harmful to themselves. I'm recalling a thread from last May about a senior who used drugs, got caught, and was kicked out of her high school right before graduation.</p>
