Secular Colleges with Strong Christian Communities

I attended an Art Program this summer and enjoyed the atmosphere and clash of ideas, so I've decided I want to go to a secular school. However I take my faith seriously and want to go to a place where I could be supported. I'm looking for a competitive place (GPA is 3.9 and Sat score is 2320) with probably an English major and Theater minor. Thanks!

Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem is a very Christian school (used to be affiliated with the Southern Baptists, but has broken that link). RUF and BSU and other Christian organizations are very active (I am Catholic myself). If you have any questions, please PM me!

What part(s) of the country are you interested in? How large a school? How urban?

As Jesus discovered, Christian values are not found in the usual “Christian” places. I don’t agree that you really can do this kind of sorting.

I live in PA so the closer the better. A small quirky Liberal Arts School would be great, but as I said I don’t want to sacrifice the Christian community (and don’t want to go to a school with only five other Christians). I would love a city/urban environment, though that is not a necessity.

Small quirky LAC and religion don’t really mix very well.
I would check out some smaller southeastern schools like Wake Forest, Elon, Richmond, Furman to start with.

Rhodes? Small LAC in an urban environment. Notable Christian presence.

Here are the secular colleges that I think have the strongest religious feel:

-Hillsdale College
-College Of The Ozarks
-Furman University
-Texas A&M University - College Station
-United States Air Force Academy
-Auburn University
-University of Utah

I would definitely look at Furman, it is a top 40 LAC. I used to go to a christian middle school and all my friends there are basically going to Furman. (In South Carolina) If you are looking for a public school with big sports teams, Texas A&M is a great option. I heard from someone once that students have to go to church saturday night because the churches are packed on sunday!

Thanks! I actually visited Hillsdale back when I wanted to go to a Christian/Conservative school as I’d heard so much about the Christian presence. As I’ve decided now I want a Secular school I wonder if it is possibly TOO Christian. I know that must seem confusing in light of my question- I simply don’t want to be one of a handful of Christians on campus.

I definitely recommend Furman.
