Self guided tour 3/3

We are looking for some suggestions on must see things. From Ohio and we will be in NC on Friday and want to extend trip to see USC on Saturday. Looks like students will mostly be gone for Spring Break, but can't change our schedule. Any suggestions on how to spend 3-4 hours on and off campus? May come back for Scholars Day too, but not sure, so need to make the best of this visit and put USC's best foot forward. D got Cooper scholarship, (majoring in Int'l Studies) and so this may be on the short list. Thanks!

For 3-4 hours I would walk the campus since many buildings will be closed. Go see the Strom Thurmod Wellness center. It is somehing to see. It is where the students excercise. Also if you have time there is probably a baseball game. USC has won back to back College World Series and the stadium is great. You can also go to the Colonial Center to see that (basketball stadium) and you can buy baseball tickets there if they arent already sold out… Also take a ride 5 minutes off campus to William Brice Stadium to check out the football field. The Inn at USC is a hotel on campus and you may want to pop in for future stays. Other than that Five Points,THe Vista and for dinner California Dreamin is great… Good luck that should eat up some time… make sure you walk the horseshoe which is the Quad…

Thanks! Sounds like some good ideas. I also noticed the “Visiting” thread, so this helps a lot.

I would check with the Visitors center, make sure they arent still offering tours during the break, at least then you could see inside the buildings and a dorm perhaps

The Visitor Center is open on Saturday from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. USC’s spring break starts this weekend with most students off campus next week, so there won’t be any tours on Saturday, but a current student works the front desk at the VC and can answer most, if not all, of your questions. They have a bunch of brochures, including a self-guided walking tour map that was very helpful for my family when we didn’t have a tour scheduled. Since it is the beginning of spring break, more of the buildings will be closed than on a typical weekend. The back-to-back College World Series champs will play Clemson in Columbia at 2 p.m. on Saturday if you would like to try to get tickets: [South Carolina Official Athletic Site](http://www.gamecocksonline.com). That would be a fun activity if you can see the campus beforehand. Definitely walk around the Russell House, Thomas Cooper Library and Strom Thurmond Wellness & Fitness Center if you have time.
