Self-studying AP Psych

I’m planning on self studying for the AP Psychology exam in May. How much time should I allot per unit and is there a specific method i should utilize? i’ve never self-studied for an exam before and I want to know how to use my time efficiently, seeing as I only have a month and a half to do it. I’m aiming for a 5. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I just googled AP psych crash course PDF and read through the document in several hours the night before. I’m not sure if I was lucky or not but that cramming was enough for me to clinch (I think barely) a 5 the next day. I would recommend a week of studying if you want to feel extremely confident, but more is probably not needed.

Just get the Barron’s book tbh

@MarkinovRules Did you only start studying the night before? I’m curious because I’m a little worried that I just started

im assuming you’re referring to the miamibeachhigh one? and nice job on the exam! I don’t think I could pull that off @MarkinovRules and thanks @LosingCrayon I just ordered it yesterday. good luck studying!

@LosingCrayon Yes, I crammed for 6-7 hours the night before. I used a free online pdf (might have been Barron’s) to study. A lot of it is just memorizing definitions and understanding example situations as applications of the vocabulary terms.

Yup, the AP test reflects what is taught in a college level Psychology class like spark notes reflect what is taught in an upper level college literature class. It is a joke.

As someone who never took AP Psych and crammed over a weekend and got a 5, I have to agree. Of course, the AP Psych example was quoted as a reason why Dartmouth no longer gives AP credit.
