Okay so due to scheduling conflict, I may not be able to take Calculus BC like I wanted to. However, I would like to get my first year of Calculus out of the way before going to the college I want to go to.

I may, instead, just do the AB course and then self-study the extra BC test material. Is this a doable thing?

And by doable, I don't mean easy. I just mean that will I have to use all my free time all year studying extra math, or will it be less stressful than I'm making it seem in my head?

Also, I would need a 5 on the test to get the credit for one year of college calculus. A 3 would get me a semester of credit.

I didn’t take the AP Calc test but here’s what I know. Calc AB is like Calc 1 and a little bit of Calc 2. BC is like Calc 1 and 2. Calculus isn’t like the other math classes you’ve taken. For instance, you can study geometry and trig at the same time while you self-study Algebra II. They’re all different subjects without a common pre-requisite. Calc 2, however, requires at least a working knowledge of Calc 1. For instance, you would need to know what integration is and some techniques before attempting to integration by trig sub or partial fractions, which is what you would do in Calc 2. You don’t get to integration until the end of Calc 1, so probably near the end of the year in a year long AB class. So how would you be studying Calc 2 stuff if you don’t know the requisite material from Calc 1? That’s just my opinion, but you can definitely give it a try if you’re incredibly motivated.
