self studying for AP exam

<p>do colleges admire self studying for taking AP exams? i have a "less than stellar" gpa and would like to compensate it with a few good AP scores. I'm thinking of taking AP Psych, APUSH (i'm taking IB USH right now), AP Enviro (I'm taking eviro honors next semester and from what i'm gathering it should be a good amount of prep), and/or AP Euro.</p>

<p>my question is will colleges like the fact that i'm self studying for these exams or see it merely as an attempt to tip the scales/get college credit?</p>
