Semester GPA Vs Overall GPA

My first year of college last year I had a 3.0 overall GPA as a CIS major, and then I transferred schools and switched majors to Health and Wellness because it was better financially, but now I’m struggling academically. As the semester ends this thursday, my semester GPA might end up being a 1.1, but my overall might be around a 2.5. I was wondering what’s the difference with the semester GPA and the overall? Will my semester GPA be a problem? Or will everything be based off of my Overall GPA?

Unless you’re getting some sort of funding that depends on your semester GPA, overall GPA is the one that matters.

Semester GPA only counts classes during a semester. Overall counts everything.

At my school, a semester GPA below 2.0 will result in academic probation, regardless of earlier semesters.
