Send both scores?

Hello, I took the ACT in April without studying and scored a 33 (E: 36, R: 33, M:32, S: 30, W: 8) and took it again in October without studying (stupid of me) and scored a 32 (E: 34, R: 35, M: 30, S: 27, W: 7). I did a very poor job timing the math and science sections, and I don't know what happened with my essay..

Anyway, for selective schools (Duke, Brown, ND, ect.) that do not require all scores, should I send in both, or just the higher? I know these schools do not superscore, but some of them (Duke, for example) say they will be "sensitive" to individual subscores. Would I benefit enough from that 35 reading on the second time to negate the negative effects of the lower composite?

Right now I'm thinking I should send just the April one, as retaking a test to do worse can't look good on an application, but let me know what you think.

I think you are fine just sending the 33 unless college requires all scores. The subscores that colleges are usually “sensitive” to (meaning considered to be the more important) are the math and English scores.
