I took the math II sat subject test and scored 24th percentile. This is the only subject i took. My regular SAT is fine, and my gpa is so-so/below avg for wellesley. Am i better off still sending this score or none at all? How much would either decision to send/not to send affect my application results?
Are you a Senior applying to Wellesley now? If so, you have few choices. Wellesley requires two SAT Subject Tests if you are submitting SAT scores.
- Do you have ACT scores that you can submit instead of the SAT? Subject Tests are not required if you submit ACT scores.
- Can you take two Subject Tests on the 21 Jan test date? It’s probably better to tell Wellesley that your tests are coming late rather than not submit them.
- Can you qualify for a SAT Subject Test Waiver due to financial hardship (or similar reason)?
Good luck!
@magtf1 I cannot take the Jan 21 test date since I have an audition and never signed up for that test date. I don’t have any SAT scores either. I don’t know about qualifying for the subject test waiver-- I qualified for commonapp fee waivers but I don’t think that carries over to the subject test fee waiver.
I ran into a similar situation. I have only taken one Subject Test, but I applied ED2 (even though testing was supposed to be completed in December for this decision plan). I am taking one this month, but I notified admissions that my second Subject Test score would come in later. The woman told me that I may be viewed at a slight disadvantage, as I only have one test result, but the disadvantage is not as significant since I do have one. Basically, if you do not have any Subject Tests, you will be at a significant disadvantage. It would be in your best interest to submit at least one, even if the score is not the best. Other applicants will have two, since Subject Tests are required. Keep in mind that Wellesley has holistic admissions, so your test scores are only one of many factors of your application.
Best of luck.
Info about the waiver is here:

@zofro99 If you do not have SAT scores, does that mean you have ACT scores? Then you would not need the subject tests.
@rerunagain I have no ACT scores whatsoever
So, you are applying to colleges that REQUIRE standardized test scores without standardized test scores?? What it your thought process with that? Have you applied to other colleges that are test optional?
@doschicos I think OP had a typo in post #2. From original post…has SAT scores, has 1 Subject Test, and has no ACT scores.
