So I got my scores back from the September testing, and it was ok (33C), but I really want to retake to see if I can get higher (I know I can... I guessed on 5 for reading because of time), so I was wondering, if I took the ACT in october, do I have to send the scores before I can see them? Or can I wait until the scores released, and then decide if I want to send them? (This is for my ED school BTW)

On a side note, is a 33 good enough for schools like UPenn, NYU, GT, ND? I know I can do so much better... it was my first time taking the ACT, so the timing was really wonky for me

thanks!

I recommend not retaking it. But to answer your question, no you would not be able to see your scores if you plan on making the deadline for ED.

Check the school’s website/common data set to see the middle 50% of ACT scores.

@QuadMaster great! exactly what I needed to know. so you think that schools will not accept my oct scores for ED? and is my score decent for the schools mentioned above? thanks! :)

it obviously is… its in the high end of the schools 50% range, if u retake, u look like u dnt have a life.

Your scores will be accepted for ED you just won’t be able to cancel them if they turn out to be worst than your current score, I apologize if I wasn’t clear on that in my previous post.

As @PaulPierce34 said, your score should be good for any school and retaking may make you appear like a test-taking psychopath.

@PaulPierce34 @QuadMaster ok thanks guys! I am pretty score obsessed, as I feel like I could have done so much better if I managed my time better for reading. my only concern that I am not in the 75 percentile… like I am 1 point short

@nervousfreshie , those are superscored ranges, a 33 in one sitting is hard to get, hence the 99th %ile, dont worry this score will actually help you in admissions, not a lot, but still, they will say that this student is a top test taker

@PaulPierce34 oh i see!! I never knew that! thank you so much for your reassurance!

A 33 is amazing and I don’t think you should be concerned with taking the test again, as your 33 demonstrates a strong education and probably amazing grades. You should have no problem getting into the school of your choice.
