so the berekeley website says that we need to send AP scores by calling them up and ordering them.
however, i marked berkeley when i took the AP tests this year and that should send my scores to berk.

does that mean ALL my scores, including the ones from previous years, are sent, or only the ones i took this year?

According to CollegeBoard, the answer is yes. They will send all active older scores along with the latest when they report your test results to the school you entered on the form.

Exceptions include tests that you have formally requested to CollegeBoard to withhold reporting and tests take long enough ago that they are archived and not available in their online systems.

Yes, but if you want to skip classes with this upcoming CalSO, you have to manually request your AP scores to be sent to Berkeley.

Coincidentally, I was in this EXACT situation about 3 days ago too. I sent my scores to Berkeley last year via the free score report thing, but the scores were never displayed on myBerkeleyApp. I didn't know whether to wait and see if they actually DID get it or if I would have to spend $15 to get the scores. Thankfully, my scores came in about 3 days ago, so I saved $15!

^ wait, what do you mean? I didn't think we had to send in anything?... (AP takes care of it because we write UCB when we take the tests, right?)

I took Calculus BC in junior year and I wanted to skip out of Math 1A/1B for my freshman year. I didn't have my AP score report displayed on myBerkeleyApp at that time, so I asked if the CalSO people would let me take Math 53 with no proof of Calculus BC. They said it wouldn't be good to risk it, so I was deciding between sending in my scores, or waiting for my 06-07 AP score report to come in. Fortunately, my scores came in recently so I didn't have to send in anything. :p

They just came in recently? I mean the AP 07-08 testing "season" just ended o_O I took BC last year as you did, however.. how does Berkeley have any of your scores already?

** Oh, I think I understand what you meant** ... you said that you'd have to get the credit before CalSO because the AP scores get reported in July (after CalSO) , right? So I can register for Math 53 in phase 2 of tele-bears, I suppose.
Thanks!

I also want to take Math 53. Can I just bring in an old score report or do I have to order my old grades for CalSO (I'm in the same position as both of you)?

I am very confused, which somewhat scares me.

Castel: I think I'll prioritize Physics 7A and Philosophy 6 because I'm more worried about getting those classes with the professors I'd prefer. I am taking "second year calculus" at my HS this year which means that Math 53 will be in large part a repeat of my first semester of senior year and 54 the same w/ second semester , but I don't think I learned the material well enough this year so I'd like to take it at Cal (hopefully this means I'll have an A in at least one class ;) ). As a result I'm not as concerned about the quality of my professor in Math 53 as I am for Physics 7A -- that looks to be my most challenging course next sem.

actually, there is no block if you want to register during calso phase I for math 53 or 54, even if you have not received your "5" score on BC calc yet. the telebears system is not advanced enough to block you from registering if you have not completed prereqs.

Hi - just to confirm, as this got a bit confusing, will all AP scores go to Cal automatically (if we specified Cal as the recipient on the exams last month), including those results from previous years? I take it the answer is yes. So nothing to do there... BUT, if we want to skip out of classes during Phase I CalSo, we need to manually request previous years' scores from Collegeboard to reach Cal prior to CalSo?

AP reports are not guaranteed to show up in Cal systems until July 7th. For example, paid Collegeboard two months ago to send last year AP score to Cal but still not showing up on the AP list. Not sure how this impacts CalSO and course scheduling.

i said this three posts above this one, but ** you do not need approved ap scores in hand or on file at calso** in order to sign up for classes which require a certain ap score. this is because the system is not able to keep track of which requirements you have completed and is not able to match it with your prereqs/anything else completed.

for example, let's say i took ap calc bc this year for AP's. i won't know the score until julyish, which actually occurs after my calso date. in this case, i ** can still** sign up for math 53 OR math 54 during calso, even though they require a passing grade of 5 on bc calc. nothing in the telebears system will block you from doing so. if, in july, i get my scores back and i do not get a 5 on bc calc, then i will have to drop the math 53/54 and enroll in something else, like math 1b. in the case that i do get a 5 on the bc calc once my scores come in, i will not need to change anything.

What double says is true. The Berkeley advisors didn't say anything about NOT being able to register, but that it just wasn't recommended without submitting your AP scores first.
