sending in just ACT for EA?

SAT I: ~1450
SAT II: ~750-770 each
ACT: 34

i know that colleges are supposed to take the best reasoning test score, but i'm really worried about turning in my sat score for EA because georgetown requires all scores and i took the sats THREE times, where as i took the act once. will it look that bad if i don't send in my sat iis (since i'd be forced to also turn in my sat reasoning score)? does georgetown significantly prefer (or just prefer in general) the sat?

i'm applying to the college for something business-y.

You have to send it 3 SAT IIs regardless of whether you send in the SAT I or the ACT.
And if you’re looking for business, then you should apply to the McDonough School of Business (Georgetown’s Business school which also serves undergrads).

You can answer most of your questions there, you just have to do some digging.

PS If you apply EA, they don’t REQUIRE you to send in the SAT IIs, unless you have already taken them.

i know, but it looks really bad if you don’t have the sat IIs by EA. it makes you look unprepared. so do you think that i could get by without sending in any sats?

i’m not allowed to apply to a specialty school/declare a major until i’m forced to (end of sophomore year?). and yadda yadda yes i’m going to be a grown up and blah blah make my own decisions, but my mom’s the one paying for college so i have to listen to her.

They require you send in the SAT IIs if you have taken them. You have taken them. Thus you have to send in the SAT IIs you have taken. QED.
I would not recommend sending in the SAT I score, however. I would send the ACT + SAT IIs (which you have to turn in). And you are mistaken, just because you send in the SAT II scores doesn’t mean you have to send the SAT I score.

And when you’re applying, you have to apply to a specific part of the university (Georgetown College, SFS, Nursing School, MSB). So if you are admitted and attend, you will be a student at one of those. Each offers different majors, so you need to decide what general direction you want to go in. If you’re interested in international relations, apply to SFS. If you want to be a nurse, apply to the nursing school. If you want an undergrad business education (Finance, Accounting, etc) apply to MSB. Everything else (especially languages) goes to Georgetown College (i.e. the college of arts and sciences). You have to know this before you apply. Which one you apply to impacts the essay you write. Despite this, I don’t think you actually have to declare a major until the end of your sophomore year. As well, from what I’ve heard, it is very difficult to change schools (e.g. SFS to MSB) because if it was easy, then tons of people would apply to GC which is a bit easier to get into and then try transferring to SFS which is a bit harder to get into. Basically, people would try to beat the system.

And again, most of those can be answered by reading [Georgetown University](http://www.georgetown.edu), or calling the admissions office.

tear
i already submitted part one of my application this morning. and i had no idea that if you wanted to be “undeclared” then you would have to choose from among a limited list of majors. i’m completely and utterly confused about page three of the second part now…guess i have to call the admoffice and tell them to update my application even though summer hasn’t even ended yet. >.>
no, georgetown rejects score choice and requires all scores. just sending in the sat IIs would be lying, which i can’t do because i absolutely suck at it.

oh and ps. the breakdown of my scores were 650 CR 800 M 760 W, but i know georgetown doesn’t look at writing scores. does the uneven distribution hurt me a lot?

So then send it in and send the ACT score. They’ll look at the higher score (which would be your ACT) and not even think about the SAT score. And even so, your SAT score isn’t terrible. It’s nothing to fuss at, honestly.

I honestly don’t know why you wouldn’t send in your SAT info. Both your SAT I and especially your SAT II’s are assets. Even taking them three times, it’s still definitely a net positive. I’d absolutely send it in.

Along these same lines, are you required to send all your ACT scores?

FYI, I found the answer to my own question in the Georgetown website:

[Georgetown University- Office of Undergraduate Admissions](http://www12.georgetown.edu/undergrad/admissions/scorechoicepolicy.cfm)

It says: “Georgetown requires that you submit scores from all test sittings of the SAT, ACT or SAT Subject Tests.”
