I already asked this in the SAT/ACT section, but am going to time out if I don't hurry and finish, so thought I'd try here too. :-)

My D took SAT once and is registering to take it again. Does she choose the same colleges again to send scores to, or do they automatically get them again since they are on the original list?

Most everyone advises:
DO NOT send any scores automatically.
Wait for results, re-test if desired, then send the scores later, that are the “best foot forward” for the student.

Most schools do only take into acct your highest scores. I don’t think you can say they “don’t look at” the lower ones—how can they miss them when they are on the sheet? (or the screen, actually)

The reason I wd hold off sending the scores to the same schools the 2nd time, is maybe the student has in the meantime developed interest in different schools. You have to pay for sending scores to more than a set # of schools, 5 or 6, I forget. Send them to the schools the student now likes best.

Using free receipts is not wise, for many schools only ask for the highest scores. Download score sending policies from CB and wait after all scores are available!
If you want to send new scores, order new receipts again!

The list hasn’t really changed…same 4 are her top choices. We already sent them once, but I didn’t want to duplicate the list if they get them again automatically since I chose them once already. Do you know?

Someone could show me numbers 25,28, and 19. They could then tell me to pretend I saw only the 28. In an ideal dream world I could do that. But in the real world? Probably not.
What if second test scores aren’t better? You sure wouldn’t those sent automatically.
Don’t automatically send any scores. When all results are in, then send the best.
If all results are in, and there are scores better than what are already sent, then yes, re-send to those schools. But otherwise,
Don’t automatically send any scores. When all results are in, then send the best.

No, they don’t automatically get them because you chose to send them results from the first time. You have to choose them again on subsequent retakings.

Unless you are really squeaking to get the results sent by a deadline (ie sending Oct test results for Nov EA/ED), I would not recommend blindly sending scores. Schools vary on using score choice, highest single sitting, all test results, etc. When you have all test results determine what the schools reporting requirement is and send just that. The collegeboard will notify you if you are trying to send score choice to a school that requires all tests, so there’s a bit of default built in.

The exception would be a school of interest that has rolling admissions and you already have a score that dictates auto-admit/merit scholarship. Again, not sending scores blindly, however well in advance of an application. It’s nice to get on the radar of a safety where you are often invited to early scholar days and told more about Honors programs, etc. If your scores are high enough for these scholarships you really can’t loose. If you score higher on a later test you can send updated scores for departmental scholarship consideration.
