Sending Stanford Update

I know Stanford says don’t update unless it’s seriously world-changing, monumental. But Stanford’s community outreach has really shaped my influence in my community (brother is @ stanford and i’ve learned a lot about the community and been inspired by it) so I’d really like to mention that. I trimmed it down to the new, never mentioned-in-commonapp details that are interesting and new.

It’s 260 words. Too much?

Are you updating for REA deferred group or are you a regular applicant?

Regular applicant (but, my god, I was boring back in December).

If what you are saying is that you plan to submit another “focused” short essay (in addition to your regular application essays)…I would be very careful here. Stanford generally does not like to receive superfluous extra “essays” or “recommendations”…it can potentially diminish the “impact” of your other essays that you have already submitted.

…the decision is up to you. I will leave it at that.

It’s a more formalized bullet point series of what I did post-app season – definitely not an essay. Is this commonly done?

(the suspense) @gravitas2‌ I hear you and that’s what I’m worried about! Thank you

Update for anyone who will be applying next year: ended up not sending the update. was accepted!

@cypres. Thank you for updating. Congrats!
