Senior Regretting Colleges Applied to? Take Note Juniors...

I regret NOT applying to Nazareth. I know that I would've gotten in, probably would've gotten a scholarship, and think I would like it...But I didn't. Oh what emotions can do! (I had originally looked into it because my boyfriend was doing ED for RIT so I wanted to apply to at least one place that would be close to him...then he and I broke up, and I pushed it aside leaving it alone until it came down to the last minute and I didn't have any teacher recs and had already applied to 8 other schools or so). Oh well. I'll end up happy anyway.

I think juniors need to be realistic with the schools they choose. Choose schools within your range. Don't apply to an Ivy League with under 3.5 GPA and under 1700 SAT's.

But don't be afraid to get some reaches. Even if your SAT scores are low and you have a good GPA, don't think you have no chance.

I had a good GPA and low SAT scores and I didn't think I could get into a nice school and I got into some pretty decent ones. One school I applied to usually accepts 1800 SAT scores and I got 1600 on my SAT's and I thought I had NO chance whatsoever. I got in because of my GPA and ECs.

So don't be discouraged and do as much research as possible. And listen to your friends talk about schools they are applying to. They may have some good points about schools you have never heard of or considered.

PS> I regret not applying to more selective schools that actually seem to fit me because I thought I wouldn't make the cut. It turns out those very schools accepted people who had similar profiles as me.
