So I’m a high school junior in Nebraska looking to go to some selective colleges (UChicago, WashU, Northwestern) and I was wondering what to do senior year for classes. I have a few options:
(1) I take the traditional route and my classes would be AP Calc BC, AP Psych, AP Chem, AP Lit, AP Gov, and Physics
Or
(2) I go into a UNMC (university of Nebraska medical center) Student Alliance program. This basically means that I would only take 3 classes at school (AP Calc BC, AP Lit, and AP Chem) then I would spend the rest of the day at UNMC working with professors, graduate students, in lab, etc. This sounds like it would be great because I want to go into research in biology but how does it look on a resume.
I just want to know what you think would make me look better as a applicant, a lab opportunity that many won’t have or a very hard courseload? Also do you think it would be worth it, I’m in AP bio now and we get a lot of lab time, if you have any insight to a program like this, how worthwhile would it be?
