September 2010 ACT Reading Discussion

I think it will be -1=35 because of that stupid weather instruments question.

wait so what was the answer for the effect?

and what was the answer in which it asked why the teeth were mentioned in the opening paragraph?

@ nyjets, i’m not sure about the effect so i’ll leave that to another CCer. but the reason the teeth were mentioned in the intro is that the smallness of them contrasted the “big change they pointed to”

^Ice formed on Antarctica

Because something as small as teeth could explain such a big geographical event.

One that has not been talked about too much but i thought was tricky: the reason the guy entered, was it “to get warm” or “buy salvagave off railroadcars?”

I put buy salvagave off railroadcars

@chitown it was too get warm, directly stated in passage

To get warm…he was there to buy salvage but peeked into their tent to get warm.

^ Was “to get warm” even a choice? I thought it was like “buy salvage” and “observe their progress” or something.

^Yes you would think that it was the salvage answer because it said he looked around for parts, but he was looking for ship parts, not train car parts.

It was definitely to get warm.

What was the letter choice for “get warm”? Anyone know?

^ I think it was A.

i think the letter choice to get warm was J, but i could totally be remembering wrong lol

to get warm was the LAST answer choice, J.

Reading seemed the hardest for me this time, science seemed easier. Anyone else?

lol not a chance, science is always harder than reading for me though.

@soccer Agreeeedddd…

yea reading was a bit harder than science. I don’t think science will be -1=34. Probably -1=35 -2=33 -3=32 and then regular or something like that.

what do you think reading will be? -1 36 or -1 35?

Reading, I’m thinking -1 36 and i really hope science is -1 35

^i would be in heaven=) that’s what the curve should be given the ambiguous questionss
