This might be a bit early but I thought I would make this thread now so no one gets a chance to post it under an ambiguous title tomorrow. Discuss all Reading questions here after the test tomorrow. Good luck to all! :)

When is the embargo lifted?

Passages were okay, was able to read all the passages and finish the section 5 minutes before time was called.

In the question that asked what Orville Wright felt about government measurements of the gale, I chose that he felt “reliant” on them.

I said felt pride about them because their instruments were more accurate than the governments.

Did you guys put for that flying one “to get warm” or “buy salvagave off railroadcars”

no it was not reliant, something like he was more proud because his instruments were more accurate

That guy stopped by the camp to get warm.

What was the one in fiction which asked since the parents were far away, they wanted their kids to feel an importance of something? I said Bengali friends

no its the relatives in india i think

edit: or cousins or whatever

^Those are two different questions. He guy’s relationship with the girl (before dinner) was like that of him and his cousins, and the parents want their kids to recognize the improtance of Bengali friends.

no isn’t it the bengali friends…since the passage said the parents are focusing on the bengali friends since those are the only people they have in the u.s.

and about the flying one, i said he was reliant on the gov’t measure of the gale. it said “27 degrees blah blah blah but our more accurate instruments said more than 24, but the gov’t reading was 27” but like the fact that the first thing the paragraph said it IS 27 degrees made me feel like even if his instruments are USUALLY more effective, in that particular instance he was relying on the gov’t measurement. obv idk if i’m right though that’s just what i put…

Yeah, he basically said, “the government measured 27 blahblahblah we measured 24 blahblahblah, but the official number is 27.”

^ no it wasn’t because they were cousins, but rather like bengalis in general in america. Why? I read the whole book a year back, and watched the movie! (yea i know bs reason to believe me, but still gives me more credence!)

It said something like "our instruments were better than anything the gov’t had to offer?

I put proud in the instruments. He def said it with a prideful tone

^That’s great but I was actually reading the passage. It said specifically that the guy’s relationship with the girl was like how he was with his cousins (because they were not close, only family tied them together).

Why did the guy like the girl? Was it familiarity?

I put familiarity

Yes it was familiarity

Sweet. I still think that pride couldn’t be the answer; all he said was that his tools were more delicate and accurate than the governments. Hard to infer any emotion, really.

What did he feel after the dinner? I said pleased interest

FOr the last passage when it asked which wasn’t a cause but instead an effect, I put the snow and cold or something. Is that right?
