Server error: Is it just me?

For the last week (or so), I have been having a difficult time accessing the College Confidential website. It is slow, hangs, and many times just gives up because it can't find the server.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Yes, same here. “Can’t find server” and “website too busy…” For at least the last three or four days. Maybe they are doing some upgrades or something?

Not just you, I’ve had the same problems from Safari and Chrome.

I’ve had the issue as well…

i have definitely been experiencing similar problems and i’ve been using firefox, so i don’t think it’s a browser issue.

yes, it’s been very annoying when it’s so slow. Also when I post, it’d say that it didn’t get posted so after I resent the post, I’d find it’s been doubled.

yes- that too^- double posts.

I’ll send this thread to the webmaster and see if they will give us a status.

In the College Discussion forum Roger Dooley wrote CC has added new servers to keep up with the user demand. I imagine there will be some delays from time to time as they improve the site.

Busy times in general on the site are 11am-1pm EST and 9pm-1am EST. Beginning Tuesday of last week we experienced extreme issues with the site and during that time I was doing everything within my power to minimize downtime but there was no way to eliminate it.

On Thursday of last week, we made a change to the configuration of the servers which improved matters tremendously. Even so, I have continuously monitored the sites during those peak hours. I haven’t seen a single instance of “web site busy” or “Can’t find the server”. Can any of you confirm that the site improved starting on Friday of last week?

Also, to complete all of the site improvements, I will be taking the site down at 3am this Sunday for about 2 hours. Once this is complete, we will have added significant additional resources to the site in an effort to improve performance.

I just had a “database error” a few minutes ago.
