ok i have a few questions about what classes i should take next semester! i'm in pratt right now but i'm thinking about switching into trinity. i don't want to take any classes that will end up being useless for trinity.

1) how come everyone's taking econ? is it required for both schools?
2) how come no one's taking a phys ed?
3) should i be taking math 103 if i don't remember anything from calculus? i got a 5 on the BC exam but that was junior year and i have bad memory :D. if not, which math is best for me? also, is there a real benefit to taking 103X over 103?
4) does anyone know anything about these calc 103 teachers: Jafari, Degeratu, Hodel, Bray, Katz, Stern, Pardon, Cattla, and Zhou? the course evalution thingy only mentions like 2 of them and a lot of them aren't on ratemyprofessors.com either. i don't know which one to pick. hodel's class is waitlist right now so i doubt i'd be able to get in that one.
5) in the course workbook it tells me to sign up for a chem and a math. will i die taking chem 21 and math 103 (or some lower one) in the same semester? both fulfill requirements in trinity also, right?

i THINK that's all for now. thanks in advance :D

No, it's just a popular class.

Um, I guess they don't want to?

You probably remember enough. I had a horrible BC calc teacher and only learned the bare minimum in that class, but I did really well in multivar.

I know Hodel's the best, and Bray is supposed to be good, but hard.

I have heard that intro chem isnt a ***** a duke like it is at other schools.. You are required to take chem/math as a first year engineering student.. so you should probably just do it

Thanks for the explanation about math 103 and not remembering anything from BC.. it makes me want to start there.. math 32 is supposed to be a biatch

there is no real benefit to taking 103X over 103 except for personal satisfaction i think. haha perhaps it would look good on a transcript.. but i think just higher grades overall would out do that

I'M TAKING A PHYS ED CLASS!!! Massage therapy :) And I did Intermediate Tennis my freshman year, fall semester.

You should go ahead and take 103, because 32 is freakishly hard. However, if you're premed, you might want to consider retaking math 32 because the MCAT has calc in it (I think)... so it might be to your benefit.
5.It's totally doable.

I think you could only have one phys ed course credit count over the 4 years. They are fun and popular to take as an additional class though.

Katz wasnt that good.

Yeah-- and lots of phys eds always seem to be full by now.
Lots of people take Econ because it won't fill up, it's interesting to people, and Econ and PPS are two of Duke's most popular majors and they both require it.
My best friend who switched out of Pratt did Math 103 and Chem 21 her first semester... it was a little rough, but she certainly survived :) And you're getting Trinity requirements out of the way with those courses. By taking anything in Pratt, you're not wasting time in Trinity..
