She didn’t need him, she could have committed suicide by tool.

So what’s the over / under on how much this impacts the NU brand?

Pizzagirl, I’m guessing there will be marginal if any impact and short term in nature, which will dissipate rapidly once the newest “Charlie Sheen” type incident sends the media scurrying in another direction.

Nada. I recall that there was a BIG media stink over the Emory theology professor who postualted “God is Dead.” No impact on admissions.

I predict interest in this in the real (i.e., non CC) world will go as quickly as it came.

I think you can expect to see an increase in sales of battery powered sabre saws for a while. Remember the battery pack is only good for about 20 minutes of use.

You are bad, crewdad.

Glad to hear its battery operated. Was still worried about the potential “electrical current and bodily fluids” consequences mentioned in an earlier post. Brings new meaning to the expression “coming and going…”

Oh, no, I can attest that no one on NU’s campus has ever had a tryst in a dorm room, at the library, on the lakefront, etc. (looking around innocently) Don’t know what you’re talking about. The fact that my boyfriend (now husband) had a single was a mere artifact of living at the Plex. We certainly wouldn’t have taken advantage of that, LOL. We were there to learn! Learn, I say!

I gotta say, though, the auditorium where it was at – Tech Aud to the older crowd – would be the place that would most put the kabosh on any romantic mood. Kind of an icky place!

I wonder who manufactures the saw:

Really? The kids thought that female orgasm did not exist? Well, maybe they did need the after school tutoring.

From the professor’s statement about the goal of the demo:

Not female orgasm, female ejaculation. I’ve only seen this mentioned in the professor’s statement, and nowhere else. The professor also never mentions that anyone actually observed female ejaculation during the demonstration.

You can read the professor’s entire statement at [" + artTitle.replace(“-”,“”) + " - " + “The Daily Northwestern” + " - " + “Campus” + "](http://www.dailynorthwestern.com/campus/prof-john-michael-bailey-issues-statement-on-after-class-event-controversy-1.2503135)

Was the front row advised to wear ponchos or raincoats, like they do at SeaWorld before the dolphin and whale show?

Female ejaculation demonstrated with a saw–that would be something to see! Did anyone see it, not the saw but the ejaculation?

eew. I guess i more prudish than I realized.

my reaction to the original article, this thread, and contemporary society in general: oh, good Lord…

^yup…were exactly our we headed as a society…I would say the wrong path.

Oh puh-lease, this isn’t an indictment on society, this is still an isolated incident involving poor judgment on a professor’s part.

One doesn’t need to observe someone defecating --live, on stage – to understand how the digestive system works.

I think the teacher should be fired.

Ditto…! I realize “students were warned” and this was “optional”, but the point that needs to be made is that this act has no educational value whatsoever.

This analogy is too simplistic, is not helpful and trivializes human sexuality. Just because the anus is next to the genital area, the act of defecating is not similar to the act of sex.

Just because the nostrils are next to the mouth, it doesn’t follow that the act of breathing is as complex as the acts of speaking and singing.

Note, I am not supporting what the professor did- he exercised poor judgement. He either misjudged the negative publicity this would generate, or he likes to generate controversy and welcomes the negative publicity. I don’t think he did any significant harm to the students or the exhibitionists. But he did do harm to the university.

I have much more of a problem with it after reading that being watched was the woman’s fetish. It kind of uses the students, which just makes it all seem much worse.

*I have much more of a problem with it after reading that being watched was the woman’s fetish. *

That’s why I made my comment that it was deviant behavior.
Most people do not require an audience to perform sexually. ( or powertools)

What I found even more disturbing than the prof convincing himself this was a good idea, was the school initially supporting him.

Unless they actually tested the fluid from the female participant how would they be able to tell if it was ejaculate, or urine?
Was it tested?
This is a research university after all, not an after hours sex club.

They didn’t need to go to this level to be differentiated from UChicago anyway, doyathink?
After all isn’t UChicago where http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-chicago/550395-uchicago-where-fun-goes-die.html] where fun comes to die?

I can’t think of anything more fun than having a powertool close to vulnerable parts of my body myself

What other sorts of things are students not able to understand unless they witness it live?
Abuse? Murder? Dismemberment? ( then they could use the saw again)
:p

If the pic in hufffington post, is of the actual saw- it is a Makita. Thats the kind we use at home! ;)
