Hobart College is a good match for me....

Does anybody know how the name works for this school? It used to be two seperate boys and girls schools that are now united under a common administration... does one apply to both? is it phrased as a singular school or as two?

I don't really know, but i don't think it would be plural if they merged. I would guess the 2nd, but its probably better to wait for someone who knows what they are talking about.
do you know anyone who goes there you could ask?

It's one college, so it's singular. Just like Franklin & Marshall College or the College of William & Mary.
"Hobart and William Smith College is a great match for me."

Legally, the combined corporation of the two colleges is The Colleges of the Seneca! The HWS website, HWS Homepage states the school's name as, "Hobart and William Smith Colleges." The Class Profile section of the HWS admissions website breaks down admissions stats as follows:

Current first-year students, by the numbers:

Hobart: Applications 1,995; Admitted 949; Matriculated 259.
William Smith: Applications 2,170; Admitted 1,326; Matriculated 335.
Total: Applications 4,165; Admitted 2,275; Matriculated 594.

I believe, "Hobart College is a good match for me...." is correct.
