Sharing, venting, ranting, supporting....class of 2020

artskids, did your D apply for the BA or the BFA in Acting? We were just there this weekend and although my D was called back, we thought the process was heartbreaking. Calling back only 6 or 7 out of the whole group…it was difficult to watch 30 other kids run to the callback and list and be disappointed.

@4gsmom She applied only BFA Acting. Same callback experience at Unifieds although they called back 10 in my daughter’s group (out of 50 or so). My D said she refused to make eye contact with anyone as she walked back to the room for her c/b. My S applied 2 years ago only BFA-MT and got the initial (and completely separate) admittance to the school. They also tend to call/email and follow up quite a bit to see if you are interested in other programs. At one point during the crazy period of schools making calls (sort of like now), my S got a midday call from a NYC exchange. It was the admissions office for the school (NOT the BFA program). It was nerve-wracking for him. I think we’ll go through the same thing with my D now until hearing yes or no from the BFA program.!

Does anyone know if Pace is making calls/sending emails this year to talk about interest level? Haven’t heard of any so just wondering. I know they have one more weekend of auditions to go.

Has anyone heard from University of Evansville? If so, how are they notifying?

My D just got an interest call from Pace.

@4gsmom where and when did she audition? And that is super exciting!

Last weekend in NYC. We didn’t realize it was something important or informative!

Did you get an interest call for musical theater or the school

Acting. It was a student in the arts who wanted to know if she had any questions and asked her about her interest level and wanted to talk to her about the school and the department. Is that an interest call? Maybe not?

@4gsmom - I think it is probably a good sign. Did she audition for more than one program? (BFA acting, BFA film and voiceover, and/or BA acting) Just curious. I had heard they may call to try to figure out if there was a program of preference for kids that auditioned for more than one program. Either way, it is probably a good sign. We have heard nothing. My daughter only auditioned for BFA acting - did get a callback, but haven’t heard since. Such an interesting process.

She auditioned for BA, BFA Acting and BFA MT. She was called back for acting (the others didn’t have callbacks.) We shall see. This process is torture, lol.

My D was notified (through her Acceptd portal) that she is on the wait list for Otterbein.

Anyone here from Pace’s acting programs? When should we expect to hear? There is a thin envelope here from Pace…don’t want to open it!

Nothing for us for Acting program from Pace but over on the Musical Theatre thread, they are reporting that calls have gone out but have stopped while Wayne catches up!

@Mpartist - dying to know if it is “THE” letter from Pace! Good luck.

Has anyone gotten word from LAMDA other than news of a recall? We know of 4 or 5 kids that got USA recall emails earlier this week. We assume all those have gone out. Trying to figure out what hearing nothing means. Assume rejection - but have also been told that LAMDA puts some kids on the shortlist (hold or waitlist I guess) and even accepts some right away vs. doing a recall. It seems that UK recalls may not be quite the same as US call backs. I think the idea is similar, but sounds like it isn’t an automatic “no” if you don’t get a recall. Anyway - we just want to know one way or another. Closure is needed. If anyone has gotten word of what “no news” means or heard info other than getting a recall, can you post? Thank you!

@bfahopeful, this is the first year LAMDA is doing recalls in the US, so I’m not sure anyone can know what no news means yet, agonizing as that is. In previous years, LAMDA has either accepted Americans without a recall, or had recalls in the UK. Good luck!

@connections thanks for the info. In the UK do they ever accept (UK) students without a recall? Just curious. And when did your son (? - daughter) hear back from them? Did they not hear at all until June or had there been contact along the way. Thanks in advance.

@bfahopeful, I sent you a pm.

I would just like to confirm that if you didn’t get a callback for Pace, then you were rejected artistically, correct?

Luckily, I got a callback for another top program so I can’t wait to hear back. The waiting process is grueling.
